“High Plains Drifter is a factory customization on the ISH created for Stone’s Design A Horse program. I love his mane and tail customization, it looks very realistic. His paint job is the perfect shade of buckskin and I adore his facial markings. Over the past few days in judging, I found myself drawn to him again and again. Today it dawned on me the reason why. He reminds me of a horse I rode during summer camp when I was a kid. A buckskin QH gelding named “The Traveler,” who was off limits for most of the camp kids because he wanted to go places quickly – just like me. High Plains Drifter reminds me of those fun summer days and why I still love collecting little replicas of real horses.”

“I must first say how thankful I am to have the opportunity to judge for you all.
What a fantastic group of models! Congrats to everyone on your placings.
I chose Golden Bomber as my Judge’s Choice. He is a young American Saddlebred colt that is a Breyer classic CM by Chris Jolly. His expression is very sweet, and his coloring is very realistic for a foal and just exquisite. The workmanship on this model from a mechanical perspective is so thorough, with all the little details created precisely. The finish work on him is lovely with the gorgeous highlights you would see on a little foal and the softest looking muzzle. To think this little guy was a major custom that ended up being the model from which the WBP Scandalous Jack artist resin was cast is astounding to me. I always thought Jack was created from a sculpture, not a CM model. I just loved to see how this little one stood his ground against all of the other quality pieces in this show.”

“Trotting down the road during the Pony Club Hunt – I am an avid foxhunter myself, and this photo perfectly captures the energy and turnout of a rider’s first hunt! The rider is turned out nicely for a foxhunt, as is her pony. Typically, third flight – often referred to as the hilltoppers – do a lot of walking and trotting. This picture just brings back so many fond memories of chilly mornings with the hounds, the horses, and the air filled with adrenaline and excitement!”

“I love the two natural trail photos presented with this horse. Both depict a stream crossing. However, what sets these apart is that Terry has given reason for the horse to have a lowered head and looking off to the side. In the Western Natural Trail the two riders and the horse are looking at a frog. In the English Natural Trail, the rider is looking at a snake swimming in the stream. I’ve picked the Western Natural Trail as my favorite. These two kids are having a fun time riding through the woods when they happen to see a frog as they cross the creek. This photo is very believable and realistic.”
